Flower Photos

Just playing around with some flower photos - I think you'll be seeing the hands in a layout soon, love that one! I can't remember where I got the TTV frame - like the effect, though.

Tomorrow is the last day of Pre-K.....this year has flown by. Feeling a little sad but excited to start the summer and then Kindergarden!!

I'm on my way out of town for a bit - a little family vacation. Ahhhhh......time to relax and take some gorgeous pictures. See you soon and have a great Memorial Day weekend. :)

My first publication in Scrapbook Trends arrived on my doorstep last week, with one of my all time favorite layouts - Heart Song, made with my beloved Sassafras.

I've been working my little fingers to the bone this week, but nothing I can show yet.....a guest spot with a fabulous kit club for June and 2 new video tutorials and this for The Color Room - I can't resist just sharing a peek - would you take a look at that world class pout? lol

See you soon,

Weekend Faves

I had a wonderful surprise this morning, featured layout at 2Peas and in the top 3 in all categories! I'm in good company with some fellow members of The Color Room, Ronda and Ingivild. The new palette is up too - it's gorgeous.

Some must see's on my list this week:

Shirred and Ruffled Dress Tutorial - A really clever idea using a men's dress shirt!!

AMAZING Patchwork Upholstery - reminds me of my crazy patch days - you must see the colors!!

Embellished Paper Doily - Christine has outdone herself with this project - her tutorial is still ongoing for this project.

Kind of weekend of memories for me - today would have been my sister's 31st birthday. It's hard to believe she has been gone longer than she lived on this earth. Miss you, Susan.

And on a happier note - Have a great weekend! We are heading out for a little shopping - someone is now going to bed all by themselves for 10 days straight!! A huge accomplishment in our house. :) A bit bittersweet for mom, though. A big girl prize is in order.

Design Evaluation

Just a old fave to share today - one that I was saving for a call that didn't get picked up. One of my first forays into trying to find a little cleaner style with more white space. Lots of Shimmerz on this one - on the felt and dots.

Just thinking about that today, after a conversation with a friend, the feeling of coming into your own style. I was looking through my inspirations folder and the designers whose work I am drawn to and thinking what is it? I realised that I love: white space, clean designs with LOTS of detail and amazing photography. I want to tell a story with my pages, even if it is just an emotion. I still love shabby or vintage, but not an explosion on the page. And I am trying to merge my mixed media with scrapbooking, more and more, not sure how successful that is right now, but something to work on.

Do you evaluate your style from time to time? I know I do constantly and it is ever changing and evolving. How do you feel about your style right now? I'm in love with mine, that's a happy place to be. I'd love to hear how you feel about yours.

Randomness and Lucy Art Winners

So, hopefully things are getting back to normal, whatever that is.....I made some studio time, between my parents being here all week and then a flu bug that took over our house this weekend. Ugh!

A peek at a video I am working on for Crate.....I'm so excited about this!

A guest spot I'm designing for next month - loving the colors so much!!

I drew some names for the pieces of Lucy Art (the ATCs made from the new Shimmerz Pearlz) and the winners are Jocelyn, Nancy, Steph and Frances!! Please email me your addresses so I can mail them out to you! (crafty75@gmail.com)

And my sweetie - all dressed up for her program at pre-k last week. My heart just melts.

It's looking like a crazy week, but any week I get to create is a great one! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Wish - The Color Room #6

This week's palette at The Color Room sang to me this week - can you see what I mean? I've taken some good pictures of Mark and Emma lately and really liked this one. In the optional sketch there were lots of spots and circles and I took some inspiration from that, along with the Crate Brook collection.

Don't they look sweet? ;)

Loving this little collection of chipboards from The Chipchop Shop, Dear Lizzy and Cosmo Cricket.

I've had this set of ink blot and grundge stamps from Bo Bunny -never even used them before and decided I like them - a lot!

Here's the palette if you would like to play along.

Hope you're having a good week! I am, my parents are still here visiting and I'm working on some new stuff for a guest spot next month...I'm crazy about the summery colors and can't wait to share!

Pearlz New Release - Video Tutorial

New from Shimmerz Pearlz - 11 Beautiful new colors!! I had the chance to play with the new Pearlz and created a tutorial to share a blended painting technique. Here's a video - showing how I created it.

And my finished piece - I've layered the ATC with copper mesh, a dictionary page and Pearlz painted wallpaper and added a couple of embellishments.

The painted background - it made me think of 'A Starry Night'. It's really hard to show how pearly this is - but it has such a soft shimmery look!

I had a few samples left over from my project and thought I would do a little GIVE A WAY!! If you would like one of my ATC's leave me a comment and I will choose 4 people to send them out to! A little piece of Lucy Art!!

It's been a while since I blogged - life just got in the way - my parents have been here visiting and lots of projects going, but nothing I can share. But it's been busy!

Thanks for stopping by and the wonderful birthday wishes!

Webster's Tag Collection - Mixed Media

This is a set of embellished tags I created for Webster's last season that I somehow never shared. I was wanted to create a mixed media piece showing off the new embellishments. The tags were misted with Shimmerz Spritz and layered with a variety of Webster's embellishments and trims, then mounted on a painted and distressed wooden board.

If you have any questions about how I created any part of this piece, just let me know. See you later this week!

Fabric Ribbon Flower Tutorial

I am in love with the new Fabric Ribbons from Webster's Pages - think Webster's gorgeous signature look made into fabric and you will see why I love these so much!!

I made some handmade fabric flowers with the Fabric Ribbons to get you started sharing the love.

I have used them here on this layout, but there are so many uses for these - I have been picturing them on necklaces, clothes and so many other things. I worked with some papers from the Garden Gala collection here - so fresh and springy!

Added in a bit of Shimmerz and Petaloo here - Shimmerz Vibez Jeni Blu on the background and the paper flowers are misted with Chickadee and Cotton Candy Spritz.

I used one of the new Scalloped Sparkler Buttons to accent the center - don't they look just like vintage glass?

I'll be eager to hear what you think! I know I don't say it enough, but thank you for following my work and your comments!

Have a great weekend! It's National Scrapbooking Day - how can it not be fabulous?!?
