Photo Actions

Photo Actions are a wonderful tool I use a lot in Photoshop Elements. The thing I love about actions is that you can take a good or average photo and make it incredible. Actions simplify the step-by-step editing process and create effects or looks on your photos.

I recently purchased these photo actions: Florabella Luxe Photo Actions, her photography is stunning, too.....just go and drool. ;)

Then Gayle took some photos of me and I played in Photoshop for a couple of hours.....just trying out the different much fun to see the amazing effects you can get with just one or two clicks. These are so worth the money. Here's a few I played with:

Emma let me do a little photoshoot earlier this week, lots of new photos to play with. This is one expecially tugs at my heart - she looks so grown up.

If you are wondering how to install your actions here is a really great tutorial: Installing Actions in PSE. There are many great free ones out there, too, to get you started....a couple of my faves are: Pioneer Woman and Coffee Shop.
Do you have any favorite actions on your list?

My Loves

Happy Monday morning to you! I had a little different idea for using your Shimmerz Vibez or Spritz - Open them up and paint with them - you can achieve some wonderful washes and watercolor looks. I think it added a special vintage look to this paper from Crate Paper Restoration. I love this photo of my two loves. :)

Here's how I created this look:

A close up of Before Dawn Vibez used as a wash with some splatter in Toadlee Pearlz.

I love the vintage look it added to my paper!

Thanks for watching and see you soon!

Oh, and some people thought I was taking a break from scrapping, from my last post.....and no, I'm not....just doing a little less for a while. :)

Spending my Time

I've been examining how I spend my time the past month or so and ruminating over this blog: The Happiest Mom

It's not a 'mommy' blog but truly thought provoking reading. I've been in self discovery mode and learning about myself and been able to let go of some things that have been weighing me down. This month the subject is all about how you spend your time.

I've been spending my time with Emma after school because I don't want her to grow up thinking her mom was always too busy for her.

I've been spending time with my family, because life is so short.

I've been spending my time, trying to create....with limited success. I feel like I am trying to break through a barrier.

I've been spending my time cleaning and organizing my house. Something that has given my a true sense of accomplishment.

I've been spending my time reading and looking at magazines - like this one:

I don't know when I've been prouder of a published piece. One of my little girl paintings.

I've been spending less time on the computer.

Let's see where this leads. :)

Time For Me

Time has really changed for me, once again. It's really been a big adjustment for me, with Emma starting to school this seems like you always want more time to get things done and now that I have the time, I still can't get anything done. lol It's a strange feeling being alone part of the day, both relief and lonliness. Different than I imagined it would be.

I decided to document part of that by doing a layout about me for The Color Room this week. We're on Palette #22:

I'm hoping that I can learn to be more organized and keep up with things better, now that I have more time.....I've been working on going through each room, one by one to start. Maybe that's why I still feel I dont' have any

Have a great weekend!

Nostalgia - Webster's Pages

This month the Webster's Pages Design Team Guest Designer is the fabulous Christine, I've been a fan of Christine's style for a long while but getting to know her through Crate Paper has been a real pleasure. She is not only extremely talented, but kind and encouraging, also. My lift was based on her style more than a specific layout - clean lines with lots of layers, a grid format and circular multi-layered embellishments. I think you will be inspired by her style, too!

I've combined paper from Hollywood Vogue, Sweet Season and some bits and pieces to create this layout.

Delicate ink splatter using Shimmerz Vibez - Breaking Dawn.....look at the silver undertones, yum!

A dimensional view of my embellishments - lots of layers here - Fabric Fancies from Websters, chipboard, pleated ribbon, brads, Sparklers from Webster's.

And the mixed size title - I ran out of one of the letters in the large size so mixed the smalled font in with it and I think it looks really great.

The week has been flying by, lots of housework and organizing and working on a special project for Somerset Studio. :)

See you soon,
