Like most married couples we have made it through a lot, both good and bad. The best being our daughter. The worst...well, we've always kept trying and I'm proud of that. Because marriage is hard at times, as most of you know.
I've learned a couple of things that really changed my life though our relationship.
1. You can't try to find your happiness in another person.
2. He can't read your mind, so tell him what you are thinking.
Realizing those two things have made me a happier and more independent person. Able to be a better wife, friend and mother. Finding my own strength and joy inside of me.
I'm happy that I chose to marry this man. I've put him through a lot and he's a keeper. ;)
Sorry this isn't a sappy love post...but life isn't a romance novel. That should be #3 on my list. lol

1. What were they thinking?
2. How can that work?
I have to admit those were my thoughts when I saw this weeks combo from The Color Room. Don't get me wrong, I love a challenge...but....
So, I wasn't going to even do it....I was thinking to myself....I don't do neutrals...when Steph said....this is going to be a huge challenge for me, that's why I'm doing it. Way to set me straight and I have to say I am SO happy I did it. Simple and sweet, I hope. ;)
You might love it, if you try it!
And a different view of my girly girl....a bit of tomboy in her...lol.

Of course, I had to pull out my beloved Crate Paper to make it complete. (they are having a DT call right now, you know....fingers crossed that I get to stay!)
Here's a peek at my project - head over to the Ella blog to see the video....I hope you like it! :)

For Palette #11 at The Color Room this week....the colors are fabulous, check out the other gorgeous projects made with this palette!
I used some Shimmerz Vibez here over a paper doily...Hermit the Frog. Isn't that a fun name? And some Breaking Dawn splatter. Loving the Teresa Collins home line here....it made the perfect accent.
Here's the palette if you have time to play along! :)
Yesterday was my baby's birthday....I can't believe that I am the mom of a 5 year old now!! And she has been sick all week with an ear infection so hopefully we can party this weekend. See you soon,

Lots of different stuff in the mix here: Crate, Sassafras, Prima, Teresa Collins, ink splots. Just working from the photo as inspiration for color and elements.
It's been nice to not be so busy with scrapbooking this month, I've needed a little more family time with Em out of school and summer activities. Soccer starts this week...never thought I would see the day when I would take on the title of 'soccer mom'. lol
Hope your summer's going good, too!

Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think! :)

I used some black machine stitching to contrast and make the layers stand out more.
And our goofy little girl....I think you have seen this photo before.....lol. I just had to use it to go with this title!
And a couple of shots of what I was doing last week.....staying cool and relaxed in North Carolina in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This was the view from our condo. Ahhhhh.....
We did a lot of outdoor activities: hiking, canoeing, mining, site seeing, all without breaking a sweat...a welcome change for a family from Florida. ;)
Now to get caught up. See you soon,

A definite favorite photo of Em - a little editing really made this pop. I'm doing a tutorial on using mists to stamp the background of the butterflies. Love those 2 part stamps, you can get so many effects with them!
I'll be back in town late tonight if anyone has been trying to reach me, we've had very limited internet...which has been suprisingly nice. The Blue Ridge Mountains have been gorgeous and I have some great photos to share when I get them edited.

I had a fun 8 1/2x11 landscape sketch to work with - love how this turned out!
Here's my sketch:
Aren't the Bloomers gorgeous?!? I combined Life's Portraits with some bits of Lullabye Lane.
This multi-photo grouping is from a digital set by Carina Gardner. It worked perfectly with these older photos of my tiny dancer. I did some detail cutting on part of the vellum from the Life's Portraits page - I think it made a really subtle design element.
I'm pre-posting some stuff for this week, while we are out of town. Be back soon!

Love the Bloomers - you can cut them apart without them fraying for individual flowers. I've layered a border punched strip of paper, Fabric Ribbon and brown lace along the side.
Spritzed with Shimmerz Vibez through a piece of sequin waste mesh - Jeni Blu and Papa Purple, then dripped some of the Papa Purple. The cameos and Sparklers are all so beautiful!
Dreams, seems like I've always been a dreamer - must be the artist in me. Always something I'm wanting to do, wanting to learn....it's just me and I see it in Em, too. Sweet dreams!
