My Delight

Palette 4 at The Color Room just went up and it has one of my favorite colors - orange! I immediately knew I wanted to use the gorgeous orange and browns from Crate Paper - Pink Plum.

I love this photo - it has a really natural feel to it and shows how big Em is getting.

Here's the palette - hope you get a chance to play along. :)

It's been a really long week for me personally. My grandpa passed away in the nursing home, we've spent a lot of time there and the funeral was yesterday. So sad for my dad. This was my last living grandparent and it's hard to imagine that part of your life gone. But I know he is at peace and we wanted that for him. Not to sound maudlin but it is just a part of life we all face.

Take care and I'll be back this weekend for a fun NSD challenge from Crate.

Shimmerz and Petaloo

I've got another video to share with you all today. Shimmerz and Petaloo have teamed up this week to show you what a gorgeous combination the Color Me Crazy Petaloo flowers are when combined with Shimmerz!!

I'm going to show how to make a lacy effect that you can use on many projects! Hope you enjoy!

And some close-ups of my project - I used Shimmerz in Flashee Fushia, Magenta and Hottie Pink for my background and added a sublte shimmer to the Petaloo flowers with Tuscan Sun Spritz.

Thanks and see you soon,

The Sun Room - Palette 3

I can't believe it's already Week 3 at The Color Room!! So many gorgeous entries last week and everyone is really having fun!

The colors this week are truly fabulous - as you know my love for bright, fun colors!! Here is my take and I worked with the sketch, too. I flipped it for my photo orientation.

About the photo, in case anyone is's hybrid - meaning I layered a digital frame over one photo in PSE and printed it all out in one piece, then cut around the outside edges. I rather like the effect. Here are the frames if you are interested in trying them for yourself. Holly McCaig - Border Effects, I use these frequently!

I used a fun mix and match from my stash - which makes me feel good - Crate, Webster's and October Afternoon - with some other little bits.

Here is the palette and sketch if you would like to give it a try!

And let's see, what else have I been working on this week? Some gorgeous Webster's Pages - coming soon.....more Crate! And speaking of Crate - my first layout is up on their blog this week, along with some fabulousness from the other DT members and a chance to WIN some CRATE!!

See you soon and thanks so much for hanging out with me today!

Stitching it all together

I was so proud of my daughter this week! She is learning to stitch and even let me have one of her first projects for my layout. hehehe Of course, I had to capture the moment with some photos and they worked together perfectly with my Crate Paper projects.

See her stitched heart tag!! I combined embellishments from all 3 of the latest Crate lines with the Paper Doll paper. I added in a lace doily from Leeann Pearce's Etsy store (I *heart* Leeann's chippies and doilies) and some Hambly stitch rub-ons.

The photo frames are from a digital frame set - love those! And I layered a couple Pioneer Woman photo actions to get the soft, but golden effect on the photos - I love actions and her's are some of my favorites. They are now available for PSE, which is what I use. YAY!!

I tackled the housework on Friday afternoon so I felt free to scrap this weekend and really enjoyed it! Now to get to the laundry.

Hope you had a great weekend!

The Color Room - Palette #2

The first week has been amazing at The Color Room - so many amazing entries for the first palette and now something new for this week - His Room:

This was a palette that I immediately thought - what can I do with this? More neutral than I usually use and not my favorite colors, but I'm up for a challenge. And I ended up really loving the result. Now, if it was just for me, I would have to add a bit of the rusty red to make the door stand out, but, that's me.

If you kind of squint your eyes you can see that I started working with the sketch, but it went it's own way - the blue toile background is fabric and then some accents from my stash. The stamp on the tree is from Paperbag Studios. One of my goals - to start using my stamps more!

This week has flown by! I've been spending a lot of time outside with Emma, the weather has been so beautiful. And scrapping with some gorgeous CRATE!!

Have a great weekend!

Dusk - Seaside Retreat

A little while ago, a friend of mine at suggested we do a fun challenge. Anna's challenge - lift one of my layouts from my gallery and don't tell me which one and I'll do the same. To make it a bit more interesting we'll let you play along and will each give away a RAK to someone who can spot the layout that was lifted. Have fun! I know I had fun lifting one of Anna's layouts. :)

I used some of the gorgeous papers from Webster's Seaside Retreat - and the new embellishments - they are fabulous!

The sparkler buttons are so gorgeous in real life with the flecks of iridescence - I've used the clear and gold ones on this project and one of the new trims.

You can take a look at Anna's lift of my layout, I wonder which one she lifted? Frynologia
And her gallery if you want to guess which one I lifted. Anna's gallery at Just link your choice of Anna's layouts in my comments to be eligible for the RAK. I'll give you a couple of days. Thanks!

Fabric Mixed Media Book

I love creating mixed media books - this is one I created earlier this year where I combined all of my favorites - fabric, paint, flowers, papers, transparencies....the list goes on.

I fell in love with the Hambly dress form line of printed transparencies and rub-ons immediately and really wanted to work with them - thank you, Allison!!

The cover is a Hamby overlay and then layered with fabric paper, stitching, rub-ons and some gorgeous Prima flowers.

This spread had lace and doilies - Shimmerz Spritz misted batting and more Hambly.

I found this fabulous old magazine in my stash and thought the Diamond Dye ad fit perfectly - the background is collaged dress maker tissue painted over with Shimmerz Paint - Hottie Pink and then some vintage buttons from my grandma and more Hambly.

A tag I made using Shimmerz Spritz, stamping and a Hamby rub-on. I stitched it on leaving it poking out the side.

I love recycling stuff from old projects - the page on the left is part of a card I made that I layered over black corduroy and added some lace and Prima flower. On the right - An Angelina collage piece with stamped images on the Angelina Film - then layered over upholstery fabric and a few extra embellishments.

Painted canvas fabric and then a envelope to hold some stitching tips.

When I was making the dress form masked video, I ended up with several extras and quilted this one and added some Hamby lace doily rub-ons.

The back cover - of course, I had to decorate it, too. The bottom layer is the quilted background from the dress form on the previous page - layered with a heavy chipboard bingo card to add some stability and then gesso painted muslin with a Hambly rub-on, finished with some little bits and Prima.

Thanks for holding out through this long post - hope you enjoyed it! :)

Happiness is often a choice, I think. Several years before Emma was born I went through a lot of emotional issues, with family illnesses and depression. This layout is to celebrate that I try to choose to be happy more times than not.

I've used Prima here and some gesso masked over with Shimmerz Vibez in Breaking Dawn and splattered with Coal Shimmerz. I edited the background of my photos in PSE to change the background of each.

Thanks for letting me share with you today, this is something I still find hard to talk about - depression, I mean. But I know everyone has their own trials in life and maybe knowing someone else has battled it will help you, too.

Sending you a smile today. :D And wishing my mom a very happy birthday, miss you. xo

The Girls

I've been really fortunate that Emma has enjoyed her Pre-K class, I think some beautiful little friendships are really taking shape.

I finally got the chance to scrap this adorable photo from their Fall Halloween party - It is one of my faves - the colors, the look of REAL little girls....hehehe. They are so funny!

Our guest designer at Webster's Pages this month is the talented Rita Barakat. You can see a peek at her gorgeous projects and the other design team lifts here at inspireME this month. I used one of the new Fabric Ribbons from Life's Portraits above the photo. It was so easy to gather and adds a wonderful soft look!

We had a long weekend with Mark and Em is on spring break this week, so I'm hoping for some creative time this week......after I tackle that pile of laundry.

Thanks for your congratulations for Crate and Memories - last week was fun. :)

Happy Monday!

Easter Hats

We were supposed to make an Easter hat for the Easter Parade at Emma's school this week, but none of the adorable straw hats or bonnets I wanted to decorate for her would do, for my little fashionista.

She selected bunny ears with a flower to match the sash on her dress - adorable, yes, but not frilly and girly. lol What was even funnier is her friend showed up with a beanie with a large gerber daisy, too. I'm glad Em wants to have her own style.

This is based on a sketch from Pagemaps - changed up a bit. They are having a challenge hosted by Couture Cardstock. I'm really wanting to get some of their watercolor sheets - 12x12! Perfect for my paint and misting. Everything is by Sassafras, except for the cardstock.

We spent the morning decorating some eggs and have lovely inky manicures....hehehe.

Wishing you all a blessing and happy Easter.
