More Cocoa Daisy

I thought I would finish sharing the rest of my Cocoa Daisy projects - this one is probably my personal favorite that I created, mostly because I love the photo and the colors are so vivid.

Sometimes I really do wonder, who's that girl - she's growing up so fast.

And this one is one of Emma's faves because of the pictures - one of our fun times at the Magic Kingdom. The photo frames are a digital photo grouping.

Then I still had some great paper scraps left on my desk - so I threw together this one, adding my own embellishments. It's kind of fun having another photographer around the house. Now I can scrap the occasional photo of me. hehehe

Hope you are having a great week!

Prima BAP and RAK winner

I meant to share this layout earlier - I played along with the Prima BAP for March and while I didn't win, I was pleased to see it on the Prima blog with a mention!

And another bit of Prima - I painted the background with gesso and used some Shimmerz Vibez and let it run and get a little messy. Fun!

I was so happy to see the interest in my videos and want to thank you all for you comments! The winner of my RAK of Shimmerz is:

#12 of people who commented on the video is Sue!!

Sue said: I have loved watching these videos Lucy, well done and thank you.
I'll be trying lots of things that you've shown, maybe my mojo might even make an appearance again.

Sue, email me your info and I'll send you out some Shimmerz to play with that will get your mojo going! (

I spent a good part of the day at the doctor's office and at the pharmacy. We found out that Em only had an ear infection, which isn't bad but the fact that she is allergic to penicillin and even the generic antibiotic was $100 and that is with my insurance paying part. I was more than slightly shocked. I guess we have just been fortunate that we are pretty healthy. Thanks for your concern for my sweetie. :)

I'll see you later this week!

Cocoa Daisy

I'm so excited to share this news today! I am guesting at Cocoa Daisy for April and got to work with their gorgeous April kit - Carribean Bliss.

Here are a couple of my layouts I created and I'm also doing a little video for them later this month on creating a mixed media background - like I did here, using paper, gesso and molding paste.

This is the cutest photo of Em and one of her little friends from Pre-K, I love the way they posed so naturally. ;)

I tried to use the stamp in the kit in a different way on my layouts - here I stamped the vine first with Brown Stazon and then stamped the fill stamp with Golden Fluid Acrylic in Gold Nickel Azo.

Still loving the butterflies, as you can see.

A picture I've scrapped before, and never get tired of, I just used a different action this time to darken it and make it more golden to go with the papers a bit.

I tried to make this one feel free and have some movement, like the water.

It's been a long weekend, with a sick little one and we are heading to the doctor in the morning, oh, joy.

I'll post my winner of the RAK for the Shimmerz tomorrow, ok?

See you then,

Part 2

Now on to Part 2 of my Painted Art Quilt.

The 1st segment is on yesterday's post.

I had a question about where to find canvas to paint on - this came from either Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby and can also be called Duck Cloth or Canvas. Joann's would have it, too.

New Video for Tally Scrapper

I made a video tutorial for Tally Scrapper this month to go with their March Kit - just some ideas for re-using your packaging and handmade flowers.

And the rest of my my projects with their kit:

I love the angle of this was a little blurry, but I had to use it anyway.

I added a little Shimmerz Hottie Pink to the flowers to make them pop.

And an artsy attempt.....I loved the button card that the buttons came on and wanted to leave them as they were. The photo was printed onto patterned paper and then I accented with pens and a little acrylic paint on the skin.

Doing this guest spot was so fun and I enjoyed working with a kit again. Thank you, Tally!! :)

Monday, March 15, 2010

I've had a busy week scrapping.....did some Prima layouts, and working with the kit from Tally Scrapper - the kit is gorgeous....loved the colors and really had fun designing with the fun patterns and colors. Here are a couple that I have finished......

I love when Emma says that...she has the funniest sense of humor. Usually it is preceded by "hmmmmm". lol

I made some paper roses here - I used Shimmerz paint to soften the paper up so I could manipulate it more.

I loved layering the lace doilies and labels over this doily paper from Basic Grey....a fun mixture.

And one of me....the title should actually be, Mom, Are you trying to LOOK like ME?!?!? Emma was flattered that I attempted to curl my hair a bit. And Gayle just happened by that day and snapped some shots for me. :)

Just some layered strips and lots of stitching....I love the effect.

Thanks for checking out my projects....I have a couple more to share later this week and a little video I did about the Ponder layout - Ideas for Re-Using your Packaging. See you then. :)

Oh, and thanks for your sweet comments about my poem....I had to be really brave to post it.

Sunday, March 7, 2010

I mentioned in a previous post about reading The Artistic Mother by Shona Cole and one of the things she suggests is keeping a poetry journal. Now, I have never tried to write poetry before but thought I would give it a shot. Trying to capture a moment without a photo. I kind of like it. :)

Stay....just a little bit longer, you say.
Stay my little girl, just a little bit longer, I think.
Can we do this forever, you ask?
Yes, I answer with all my heart.
Stay, I'll stay and watch you fall asleep.

Our nighttime ritual - once an aggravation, now a precious time of secrets and hugs. I want to hold onto that moment forever.

Give that sleeping child a kiss for me and thanks for letting me share my heart this morning.

Shimmerz Quiz

Jeni just posted this fun quiz about Shimmerz that I wanted to share with gorgeous are these colors?!?

Just for fun I was wondering......can you match the 5 flowers to the 5 Shimmerz Products that I used? :) (be sure to click on the photo to enlarge, so you can see the detail) All of Shimmerz Paint Products work so beautifully together, and we thought it would be fun to see each product used side by side to see the you know which is which??? ;) Check back in a couple days on the Shimmerz blog to see if you were right! Have fun! :)

Reading & Scrapping

I've been scrapping and reading this weekend.....a fun weekend for me. A guest DT lift for Webster's was due and I pulled out some of the Lullabye Lane and embellished with Garden little poser. What a sight.

I painted under the paper blocks before stitching with Shimmerz paint in Celery - it added a lot of depth and a touch of color.

What is it about flower clusters that are so appealing? I just love everything girly, I guess.

I've been reading this: The Artistic Mother.....Shona has great tips for inspiring your creativity and fitting it into your lift.....there is a group starting up based on her book that I joined.....if you are interested it starts March 6 - The Artistic Mother Group.

And a new personal goal.....40 Days to Personal Revolution. I've started a daily yoga and meditation practice again....already feeling the results of a calmer mind and better focus, after the first week. This book is excellent, IMO.

Lot's of new stuff in the works - I'm guesting at Tally Scrapper this month......just waiting for my kit and making myself a schedule for Somerset publications.....gotta get busy this week. :)

Happy Monday everyone!
