Sew Fun

Last week's sewing project ended up doing double duty, a photo shoot and layout, too! lol

I Spritzed over my favorite butterfly punch with Rock-a-fella Blue Shimmerz Spritz.

Digital frames by Holly McCaig - love this photo collage.

And my first feature ever, on Two Peas in a Bucket......I am so flattered and Rebecca showed it on the Sassafras blog, too! I was thrilled!!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I remember when....

I remember one of the first little photo shoots I set up with Emma. She was 9 or 10 months old here and was so adorable to me. I need to scrap more of these pictures.

These gorgeous new papers from Webster's have been sitting on my desk, just begging to be used....these are from Life's Portrait. I was feeling a bit rusty as it has been a while since I scrapped, but I am pretty happy with the result.

I spritzed some Vibez in Red'y' or Not on one of the new Webster's die cuts and hand stitched the edge. I added one of the journaling cards from the Lullabye Lane collection...these are the cutest little cards ever! And the layer under the photos is one of the 6x6 papers.....I love the scale of these!

Also layered one of my script stamps with some Coal Shimmerz paint to add a little more depth to the paper, the white and yellow script was pre-printed. I love this background!

The butterflies are one of my new favorite punches - the large butterfly by Martha Stewart.....gorgeous!!

So, I took a bit of a break on cleaning and have been enjoying a little creative time this week. Finding a balance is so hard for me, something I am really working on finding....any tips?

My Ruffled Skirt

The sewing bug took over and I made Emma this skirt and decorated a t-shirt to go with it, from some of my stash of fabrics. I couldn't even wait for the patterns to come in, so I just made up the skirt pattern myself and managed to re-thread my serger, no small feat, after 7

I made the flowers on the shirt by tearing strips of fabric and sewing them into a spiral pattern. This was such a fun and rewarding project and was worn with great delight!

Now, back to finish the cleaning, after this unscheduled interruption. ;)

I'm buried under mounds of fabric and paper.......this is turning out to be a much bigger project than I anticipated. But I am going to push through and have a clean studio and house again. Wish me luck!

I'm feeling the urge to sew daughter loves ruffles and girly clothes, so why don't I ever sew for her? My mom made a lot of my clothes when I was a child and I remember thinking they were SO special. I want Em to have those memories of me, too. This morning I showed her these patterns and got a HUGE thumbs I think I'll try to make my version. (after I finish cleaning) hehehe

These are patterns by Pink Fig.....aren't they adorable?!?

So, back to work.....see you soon, I hope.

Telling the Story

Telling more of the story, that is something that has been on my mind a lot, lately. Journaling more....time feels like it is flying by and I don't want to miss a moment. Creating more for me.

And to do that...I am taking some time to organize and clean my house.....I don't know how many of you are like this, but creating and cleaning don't go hand and hand for me. lol In fact, the opposite is true, for me and I have been seriously creating for the past couple of years....don't think I don't clean, I'm talking about the deep cleaning...closets and baseboards and clutter. It was just about this time last year that I did my studio overhaul, so it is definitely time. You many see a little less of me until I get this stuff straightened out a bit.

And I can't post without something to share.....a precious moment when Em met one of her favorite princesses at Disney World.

I am really working on the journaling and finding it very satisfying.

I painted this Prima Paintable with Shimmerz Paints and Spritz - it just glows.

A shot to show some of the dimension I put into this piece.
Emma paid me the highest compliment when she saw is hanging in her room, at her request.

I'll see you soon,

Vibez Flowers

I spent some time playing with the vibrant colors of the new Shimmerz Vibez!! This is my favorite Shimmerz product to date! I experimented by spraying Vibez on some cotton batting and making some flowers that have the look of felted wool. So fun and easy!!

Here's how I created them:

A close-up of Grape Escape over dry brushed Gesso on the background. The shimmer of the Vibes is amazing....truly the best I have seen in any product!!

And my finished layout, I used some Webster's Pages on this one....this month we did a guest lift of the sweet and talented Lynn Yen, so I gave this one double duty.

I love this old photo of me, my mom and Joe, my brother. This is from 1978 and a proud big sister moment for me.

The background was dry brushed with gesso and then misted with Grape Escape Vibez...the edges were lightly spritzed with Breaking Dawn Vibez and edges painted with a bit of Coal Shimmerz.

Can I just say, I love scrapbooking. I scrapped my first layout this weekend in 2 weeks.....and it felt great! Still buzzing from CHA and the wonderful people that I met there......a couple that I was really star struck by that were incredibly sweet.....Ronda and Debee. I've been fans of their work forever. Wish I had asked for a picture. lol

See you soon,

Beautiful Little Clown

That is how she described cute is that? Of course, I had to get some photos and record this adorable moment....picking out her own clothes for school, already showing her own bit of flair.

Cosmo Cricket had a fabulous sketch on their blog this week that really inspired me based on a layout by Amy Parker. I love her work!! So here it is...

I mixed and matched from a lot of CC lines, Jolly by Golly, Earth Love and Nutmeg. I used some of the new Rolling in the Hay Vibez under the title - the shimmer is unbelievable!!

And a bit of 'Red'y or Not Shimmerz Vibez to mimic the layered circles on the sketch.

Just trying to wrap up some housework this morning but had to pop on to share this. :)

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Photos onto Patterned Paper

I'm hosting the monthly challenge for February at inspireMe and challenging you to print your photo onto patterned paper. The backsides or portions of the fronts of Webster's Pages are perfect for this technique. Here are a couple of samples where I have done this:

I used the new Lullabye Lane collection for this layout....I love how these papers work with non-baby projects, too! I also printed some of the new digital elements from Winter's Wings onto transparency for the lacy doilies.

And another one....this one will be in the next Somerset Memories! I did some editing on the photo before printing this one.

I invite you to come play along and show me your project....there will be a new collection from Webster's as a prize, if you need any more incentive. ;)
