New Kit and My Class

A couple of new things I am really excited about! I am teaching a FREE class September 8-10 at A Million Memories - I think you are going to love this shabby vintage look frame!! Michelle has some kits for the class that will be available shortly or I will get you a list of supplies. I'll be posting the sign up soon and will get you the link.

And this kit - the September kit from A Million Memories, Office Space, I can't wait to get my hands on it - I've already been printing my pictures - get ready for some beach scenes. ;) LOVE the fun bright colors and I think it will be amazing for back to school or whatever you are scrapping right now! Check out the NEW Sassafras, Lily Bee, Cosmo Cricket and the Jenni Bowlin Bingo Book!

So, a few changes going on for me....I think you can tell that I have been a little stressed lately, my heart has been broken about my parents moving and my baby starting Pre-K, so many things, sometimes life takes more effort than other times. Not to be complaining...I know I am blessed in my life and am grateful for the challenges and changes that I have to grow through; it's just a few growing pains for me, right now.

That said - I don't know how many of you follow The Next Step - but we are changing things up a bit there to be a little less busy and I have stepped down from a couple of challenge blogs, Scrapping the Music and Creative Therapy. I am sad to be leaving but am thankful for the opportunity to be part of such wonderful sites.

And creatively - Just received my some new Webster's goodies!! Yay!! So I created this new layout in a non-traditional use of Winter's Wings - I adore these colors!!

Some misting here with Shimmerz in Eucalyptus over a Maya Road circles mask. So soft and pretty.

And I splattered some of the Shimmerz paint - love the glitter in this paint! This is Gold Glimmer.

And more Shimmerz - Spritzed on the flowers in Barn Red.

The upper insertion - tulle, old cheese cloth I dyed, threads from a piece of burlap.

I am so happy that Emma loves the sea as much as I do and it's song calls to her, too. This layout gives me such a wonderful feeling - it just makes me happy creatively - and that is a good place to be right now. Thanks for hanging with me today and making it through this long post. I so appreciate your comments and friendships - thanks and see you soon. :)

New Webster's site and vacation pics....

What an honor - I had to blink away tears when I saw the new Webster's site last week. Brandin, one of the co-owners of Webster's pages, re-designed the Webster's site and blog, she also designs the gorgeous papers and is the sweetest person! And some of my work is featured on the site and look - the blog header!! She did such a beautiful job and I can't wait to play with some of the new digital products and do a little overhaul on my own blog! I am completely overcome and cannot thank everyone at Webster's enough for their support and love of my work. This is an amazing feeling!

I've been trying to get some deep cleaning done this week - somehow the clutter has overtaken some areas of my house. Do you ever get that feeling? lol

Here is a little display I fixed up that is right as you go into the dining room by the kitchen. I love having my artwork up in my house.

Also did something kind of fun MM blog yesterday you might want to check out - I called it ANATOMY OF A LAYOUT.

And some vacation pictures from Blue Mountain Beach, near Destin where we vacationed.

This was the probably the best vacation ever, I wish I could have stayed forever. Gorgeous crystal clear water, soft white sand and relaxation. It made me do some serious self evaluation about how busy I am and on working smarter and making that 'quality time'. More about that later. :)
Have a great week and see you soon!

Holiday's And Celebrations

I had a wonderful surprise waiting for me in the mailbox when I arrived home from vacation on Sunday afternoon! My issue of Somersets Holiday's and Celebrations with my book and article! So I'll just do a quick share of that for now and be back with some vacation photos later on. :)

We had a wonderful trip and I am just catching up on everything that has piled up while I was away. Isn't it terrible to go away to relax and come home to work! Oh, well....this is life. ;) See you soon.

My favorite Webster's Projects

At least, what I have done so far.....I am leaving you with these while I am away on vacation this week. Some relaxing in the sun with the family! :)

This is with the Postcards from Paris line....love, love, love it so much! I added in some Prima's and some of my handmade flowers. The grunge mask on the photo is by Lily Designs from After 5.

Me....off in dream land or whatever....lol. This paper was ivory with the clouds, sort of a tone on tone so I painted it up a bit with some shades of blue acrylic paint and outlined the clouds with dimensional white paint.

The design team did a lift of the this months guest designer Toni Kelly and this is my result - I stitched the triple circles in the center and added some Hambly rub-ons, along with Prima flowers to this bright and cheerful layout - I love how this color combination turned out.

My plans for this week are to relax, take lots of new photos, sketch some designs and write down some ideas for some mixed media collections - I am longing to do some painting and stitching, something for me. It's been a while since there have been any 'me' projects. Do you ever just want to create - just for you?

What was your last me project? I would love to hear about it. I'll be checking my email while I'm away if you need me - so leave me a comment - this is a topic I am really interested in exploring more. ----------Well, I'm off for now.....if I listen closely I think I can hear the wind and the waves calling me. :)

Lily Bee

The AMM design team was sponsored by Lily Bee this month and I got the French Couture papers to play with - This is a fun and stylish line of paper and would work for many styles. Here is what I have been creating over the past few days. Thank you, Lily Bee!!

**** EDIT*****Just wanted to add in some links for those of you wanting to know what digi stuff I am using on my photos - this is so addicting! My best advise is to go to Jessica Sprague's site and read her tutorials if you are just getting started in Photoshop or PSE. Here are some of my faves that I have used in these layouts: these textures, pool picture frames, beach pic frames. 2peas also has some great free tutorials. Feel free to email me if you have any questions but I am really an amateur at PSE. :)

And just wanted to point you toward my tutorial now up on The Next Step - Reflecting on Masking. My masked and painted mirror:

Whewww!!! Now all of my scrapping assignments are done and now I just need to clean my house and get ready for vacation! Can't wait to spend a week at the beach relaxing! I am thinking about leaving my scrapping and computer at home. *shock* Whatever would I do?
See you soon!

Final Days of Summer

Since it is already August that is such an appropriate name for the kit from A Million Memories this month. Michelle brought my kit to me at CHA so I set myself a different challenge - to design my layouts without the pictures - while I was at CHA and then find pictures to fit at home - I usually work the opposite way - pictures first. Can you tell a difference? I think they are more design driven - not as photo centered.

Isn't the kit so pretty and shabby!

And one of my new Webster's projects as promised:

Me and Brandin at the Webster's booth at CHA. Brandin and Terri were so, so nice!! I am so in love with all of the new releases and have so many ideas swirling in my head after seeing them in the booth.

My layout displayed in the booth with the new embellishments - these are so amazing in person - can't wait to get these!

And people you meet....one of the best things about CHA was the online friends that I had the pleasure of meeting! Stacey, Patti, Erin Yamake, Cari, Julie Fen Bazar, Brandin , Terri, Amy Tara, Anabelle, Danielle, Dina Wakely, Norma Kennedy, and I know I am forgetting others so please forgive me.

Gayle, Cari Fennel, Me - Let me say one of the most gorgeous booths - Prima - we were drooling!! Cari was incredibly sweet and so much fun to chat with! Like a long time friend! Another star!

Julie Fei-Fan Balzar & Me - I LOVE her work and think she is one of the first mixed media scrappers, she really paved the way for the rest of us! I have been a fan of her's forever and she was so sweet and friendly!

And my MOST heard comment at CHA - you are SO TALL! lol - ok, for those that don't know and seeing as you can't see me online, I am 5'10" and not exactly a small size frame. :)

So the end of summer? It doesn't feel like it here - we still have our family vacation coming up next week, I'm looking forward to that and trying to finish up assignments this week before leaving. And trying to catch up with everyone's blogs - so fun to read and see what you have been doing this summer. See you soon!
