RAK winners, new sneaks.....

Some peeks at what I am working on with the March kit from Scrapmuse. The design team call is still going on - I think through March 15th, if you are thinking of trying out!

Emma and I did the drawing this morning for my Blogaversary RAK and the winner is :

And Emma liked drawing the names so much I decided I would also send some of my handmade flowers to someone:

Email me your addresses, ladies!! crafty75@gmail.com And I'll get your goodies out to you!

Yesterday Em came out of her room dressed like this and asked - Mom, Don't you want to take my picture for the internet? lol She loves for me to read 'her' comments to her. I think I have created a monster!

Also playing with my art journal pages in the AJ102 class with Dina Wakely - I am having so much fun! The first class was on working with a motif - here is what I created - you know about my love affair with the dress form. ;) The next class is on adding self-protraits to your work....hmmmm. I am a little nervous about that one.

Hope you all had a wonderful week and enjoy the weekend! I am going out for dinner and a movie tonight with Mark and friends!! See you soon! :)

Blogaversary, or something like that...

My blog was a year old this weekend and to celebrate I want give a kit RAK that I put together with some of my favorite colors and goodies! Just post a comment to enter. I've put in some of the flowers that I misted and punched and some of the new Que Sera Sera, Sassafrass, Amy Butler, and other fun stuff for one lucky poster! I can't tell you how much your comments and encouragement mean to me!! Thank you! I'll do the drawing this weekend.

I mentioned the flowers that we had made and thought I would share a few with you. The ones made with book pages are my favorite - I made some of my own glimmer mists using pigment powders and water and hairspray and spritzed the pages and then punched some out - they are layered with tulle, stickles, cardboard, fabric, you name it! I have to thank Gayle for the inspiration on some of these!! ;) Except for the hot glue gun blister fun was had by all! That would be me, of course.

A couple of the small ones I really like:

And my favorite one:

I played along with Scrapping the Music last week and saw this morning that my layout was chosen for the hall of fame! I have to give a shout out to the fabulous Sasha Farina, she just posted a scrap challenge to use craft, bright colors, arrow and stickers - so this was my result and the song at STM was perfect for the title and journaling. Did you spot one of my new flowers? ;)

We had a great weekend - went to a party for my friends, Michelle and Ray, who are getting married next month and then on Sunday went to the Suwannee River to let Em do a little fishing. Her first fish - but she was kind of scared to reel it in, but when she saw it was like - Oh!! It's so CUTE!!

A shot from our dock downstream. The Suwannee is fed from the Okefenokee Swamp and the water is tea colored from the tanic acid - didn't want you to think it was dirty.

And this is what I did - besides taking photos. So relaxing!

I am starting Dina Wakley's art journal class tomorrow!! Yay! I mixed some new mists and have my watercolor journal ready! Have a great week!

Color, RAKs and Aprons

How cute is this!!? Em was so proud that she dressed herself - note the dress is on backwards and shoes on the wrong feet. I love it!! She is getting to be a big girl - 4 in June!

Color Combos Galore is having a Design Team call, too - how fun would that be! I love their challenge site! This is for #110 the colors were chosen by the fabulous Alexis Hardy. It is a little more muted than my usual, that is one reason I like to play along with them - it makes me try new color combinations that I normally wouldn't.

And this is a photo from Em's 2nd birthday, kissing her Papa.

I made this flower with with some velvet flowers and crumpled brown paper bags - beautiful result! Gayle and I worked on some making some handmade flowers yesterday - they turned out so pretty - with glittery flowers and layers of tulle and fabric and cardboard and whatever was on hand - you know how crazy we get! ;)

My sweet mom! Doesn't she look like the cutest housewife in her apron that we made? My mom has always been a stay-at-home mom, the best, of course!

Tomorrow is my blog's 1st birthday!! Totally amazing to me - I am going to post a RAK so be sure to stop back by!! I have a ton of goodies from the studio overhaul!! Thanks so much to all of my readers!! I appreciate all of you and love to read your comments and visit your blogs, too!
Happy Friday!

February at Scrapmuse

And the rest of my layouts for Scrapmuse this month - I love this photo and the paper combinations with it! I painted some gesso around the photo so that I could show off the Fancy Pants rub-ons.

I guess I have been in the baby mood, no, I am not trying to tell you anything! ;) I used my new Slice to cut the scallop circles - Man, I love that thing! So easy to use and doesn't take up much space, either.

This layout seems so fun to me - I know I had fun making it!

Scrapmuse is having a Design Team call - check out the details here if you are interested! I wrote an article in the newsletter this month on cropping and using the rule of thirds - you can see it here.

And WOW, WOW, WOW!! This has been a fabulous week! In my last post I mentioned that I have some pieces and an article coming up in the next Sew Somerset. Well, I was also asked to write a technique article for my mixed media fabric and paper quilt - Shadows of My Past - I had it on my blog several months ago. I am still flying high!! It has been a weird week for me - busy away from home a lot and have more stuff to share later!

I signed up for this class with my friends, Gayle and Beth!! I can't wait to get messy! I have been working on my art journal this week and trying to draw some faces with limited success. ;-p

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day and I'll see you soon!

Cupcakes and things...

Who doesn't like cupcakes? Em has a passion-obsession for everything cupcake. Especially the real thing, so I made these chipboard cupcakes in the February Scrapmuse kit into magnets for her to display her artwork on the refrigerator.

I did this layout with a picture of the girls trying on flower girl dresses at David's Bridal. Em loved hanging with the big girls!! Don't they all look so cute?

I played with the Pencil Lines sketch this week. I have always loved this picture of Emma - she is about 17 months old here.

And another mixed media journal - this one is on watercolor paper - I was playing with some painting techniques and a finish I saw in my Golden book - faux bee's wax. It doesn't really show here but looks good in real life.

Somerset contacted me this week and want to publish my mixed media series - Childhood Memories with a technique article in the next Sew Somerset!!! To say I am thrilled would be putting it mildly!! Hope you are all have a great week! See you soon! :)
Edited to add: OK, Call me crazy but those layouts have been really bugging me - everytime I looked at them I felt something was missing. Does anyone else do this? lol So here they are re-worked a bit and I decided to leave the old ones up to look at the difference.

Call me obsessive, but I feel much better now! ;)

Sweet Treats at Scrapmuse

The collection from Scrapmuse is so adorable this month! I thought I would share a couple of the layouts I made with the kit preview.

Em is wearing my scarf on one of the colder days we have had this winter - I don't have hardly any winter photos, so I quickly grabbed the camera!

The kit photo - lots of goodies here and the add-ons were fab - I had to get it all!

Another layout with the kit - Em was 9 months old here - look at how chubby she was!!

I spent most of the weekend with paint on my hands, playing with my art journal - here is a page I finished - My first time drawing human figures - so I made it easy and just did it from the back. ;)

We actually had a date night on Friday - only I started getting sick on the way home and then Mark was sick on Sunday - so not so romantic! lol Thanks for taking the time to visit! I'll be by to see you all soon. Happy Monday! :)
