CHA - My faves

Wow - what an overload of color, paper and new faces! CHA was an amazing and fun experience, everyone said it was much smaller in Orlando but for me that was enough for now. I was going to do a Top 3 or something but whatever! So hang with me and I'll give you a slight glimpse of my overload! I've got some people pictures, too that I'll post next time, how fun to meet people that you feel like you already know!

The worst thing was - not being able to buy any of these goodies!!!

My top standout was Hambly - dress forms and lace, just wait til you see what I am envisioning for this!

Sassafras Lass - you know I love them! Their booth was pure eye candy! Of course it didn't hurt that one of my layouts was there. ;) YUMMMY!!! Can't wait to play with these!

WEBSTER'S PAGES - seeing my work in the Webster's booth and meeting Brandin and Terri was the highlight of CHA! How incredible to hear them introduce me as 'one of our designers'! Winter's Wings is so gorgeous in person and the cameos are incredibly detailed and intricate!!
Some American Crafts -
PRIMA - Let me tell you, Gayle and I thought we had reached nirvana!! The DT work was so amazing and Cari Fenell chatted with us there - she is so nice!! I have stalked her work forever!! The Paradise City line is fabulous!!

Basic Grey is always wonderful and their booth had so many wonderful altered projects! Love this new kitsy line from them.

And the A Million Memories girls - I wish Susan was in this photo with us! This is Jenn, Tonya, me and Michelle. They were all great and it was so wonderful to spend some time with them!

Ok, so I need to share some of my new Webster's projects and I am working with the August AMM kit, but that will have to be next week. Have a great weekend and see you soon! What's been your favorite CHA release?

Webster's New Reveals

And here is a little something I created for them using a lot of bits and pieces.

Since I was a quilter before scrapbooking I have had the idea of incorporating paper quilts into my work and doing a series or something along those lines, so here is another idea about that. This one in crazy patch with bobbin embroidery like I showed on The Next Step this month. Click on the link to see how to do it yourself. :)

The crumpled chipboard recycled packaging background is an idea that Wendela shared on AMM a few months ago.

And a close-up of the stitching....

And a close-up of the texture.....

I have been loving the new reveals from Websters! Wow! Aren't they beautiful!! And the new embellishments are gorgeous!!

Holiday Wishes

So, I have been running around like crazy trying to get everything done before CHA, cleaning house and finishing assignments. I know you mom's will understand...I am worried about leaving Emma for the first time...I have left her overnight but not just me, going away for a couple of days - thank goodness my mom is still here.
Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with everyone's blogs, but I'll catch up soon. :)

Can't Rewind

How true....but don't think I would want to, even if I could. We are who we are because of where we have been. Not to get all philosophical on a Monday morning or anything but as you know, music makes me think. The song at Scrapping the Music this week is 'If Today Was Your Last
Day by Nickleback'
- love that group!

I pulled out these gorgeous new Prima flowers I just got and decided to do the monthly BAP sketch from Prima as I was doing the STM page, too - simple for me....but I really like it a lot.

Had an amazing week last week!!

First a little email from Sassafras asking if I would consider letting them display this layout in their booth for CHA. Hmmmmm......Of course, I was doing the happy dance!!

And got the Catwalk at SIS with one of my fave new layouts with some American Crafts yumminess! I have my fingers crossed on their DT call - I created an adorable mini needle storage and quote book this weekend for my project and am finishing up my application this morning, last minute, of course!

And, lastly, Brandin - asked me to email her 2 pictures for consideration for the Webster's new catalog!! What a dream that seems like to I don't want you to think I am being falsely modest. I know my work is good - I personally LOVE it but there are so many incredibly talented scrapbooking artists, I just consider myself so lucky to even be noticed. Thank you, my friends, for all of your support!! :)

See you soon!

What I like about you

The song at Scrapping the Music was a no-brainer for me. These two really like each other a lot - and that is putting it mildly. Mammy is Emma's most favorite person. I hope they will always have such a special relationship.

Love this new Pink Lemonade line from Basic Grey - so fresh and summery! Fabrics by Amy Butler and Kaffe Fassett.

I am hosting a challenge at A Million Memories for the next couple of weeks - just post a layout using fabric in the gallery and link it to this thread. I used this layout for my sample for this challenge, too, so get started! I am giving a RAK with a collection of some of my fabrics - do you how much fabric I have?!?
Hope you had a great weekend - I went shopping and found some good sales on some summer stuff. You know in Florida how long we wear summer clothes.

See you soon - maybe IRL if you are going to CHA?

Happy Day

Today is a happy is my dad's birthday and this morning my mom told me that they decided to postpone their move for several months. We were all having such a hard time thinking of them leaving so this is a huge relief for now. At least now we have some time to get adjusted a little.

I showed this a little while ago and in honor of my dad thought I would re-visit it again. Also this month is all about stitching at The Next Step, so bring on your sewing projects! Love that Sassafras!

I am drooling over my LUSCIOUS package that came in the mail from Webster's yesterday - take a peek at what I am going to tear into this weekend!! Postcards from Paris!! It is even more amazing in person!!

Hope you all have wonderful weekend and see you soon!

Scrapping the Music

Music is something that always makes me think; it is the soundtrack of our lives and a vehicle for our memories. Just a few bars and I am instantly transported to another time or emotion. That is why when Mary from Scrapping the Music asked me to join their design team, I was happy to take part. So if you are inspired by music, I hope you will come and join us!

Here is my first layout as a design team member and also part of my entry for the design team call at American Crafts- I am going try out and see what they think of my style. All of the new Thickers -now that is my idea of fun! Thickers are my most 'go to' supply.

A note about the photo - I've been playing with Photo Shop lately and I edited this photo using Color Pop by Mindy's Photo Actions and then layered a texture mask from Lily After 5 between layers of the photo and made the top layer into an overlay. Then I added the text for my journaling. The photo looks like it was printed on canvas, I love the effect!

Thanks for all of the warm wishes about the Webster's DT! It has been a fun week, scrapbook wise. :)

See you soon.

Webster's Pages

Some wishes are magical - becoming a designer for Webster's Pages has been a dream of mine for a long time and I cannot tell you what an honor it is to become part of their design team! It was just announced today, that was a hard secret to keep, let me tell you!

I created some new pages for the announcement. This is an older photo of Em that I edited and used a digital framed vintage overlay by Carina Gardner. I love the printed vellum by Websters and layered it over the kraft background and hand stitched around the edge.

Didn't these flowers turn out pretty? They are made from 3 circles of old book paper and then snipped into the center and stapled together - then misted and shaped with some mist I mixed.

This photo is a real treasure to me. It is of my grandmother, who was born in 1917 - so amazing the age of it and how it was taken through the window!

I created a quilted effect on the paper by wetting and crumpling then hand stitching.

And a little sign, kind of private joke for Emma. She is famous for wanting to eat late, right before bed time and now she knows to ask, Is the kitchen closed? lol And I do like to be out of the kitchen by 6, not that it always happens that way!

Websters has so many new upcoming releases for CHA this month! We are celebrating and having some peeks during the Joyful Joyride! Stop by and see what is going on!!

I am not going out of town this week after all, so now I am just looking forward to CHA! Thanks for all of your kind comments about my parents! :)

See you soon!

July already?

How fast is this summer going by? So fast for me! I've got some really exciting stuff coming up this month...a trip, CHA, scrappy news and the July kit from A Million Memories! I have a couple of layouts in the latest ezine by in the Green section.

I've been trying to finish up some upcoming projects for some assignments and for The Next Step, I'll be posting my tutorial on Monday, so stay tuned for that. Here are a couple of peeks of what I have been working on:

And the July kit from A Million Memories - so gorgeous! I love the colors - this kit was designed by Mia, didn't she do a great job!!

About my trip - Em and I are going to Missouri with my parents. Kind of some sad news actually, my parents who live 5 miles from us just sold their home here and are in the process of moving back to Missouri. I have been dealing with a lot of heavy emotions with this and struggling creatively, but I know that we will all adjust and I'll just have to appreciate the times that we have together. So, just hanging in there.

Is anyone else going to CHA in Orlando this month? Let me know and maybe we can meet up! I am so excited to meet Michelle and some of the other AMM girls! I wish I could meet more of my online friends in real life. :)

Have a great rest of the week and I'll be by soon.
