You Change

This week the song at Scrapping the Music is Our Town by James Taylor - while looking through the lyrics, 'you change' struck me and while it isn't the theme of my layout - I was thinking about change. I like to think that I can roll with the punches and change is usually a good thing, but something recently made me wonder how well I really deal with changes in my life. I guess we are all set in our ways to a certain extent and like to have life run according to our plan. I don't know, how about you? But, change is inevitable and we have to adapt or it will drive you crazy trying to make it fit your mold. Hmmm...for some reason, my life doesn't seem to fit some days. :)

Anyway - the layout isn't about that, but just a change of a hair do! lol I took these pictures of Em while she was getting her hair done for Michelle's wedding and I think they are so cute. Like a little curly-q!

I used mostly all Prima here and their June BAP sketch for fun.

So I want to know - How much time do you spend on the internet each day? You don't have to say if you don't want to, but I have been trying to evaluate my computer time. You know, the best use of my time or I could be creating. Any tips on how you find a balance? I guess this is an introspective week for me. I'm not talking about visiting blogs here - I can't miss that! :)

I also have a new stamping tutorial that I wrote for A Million Memories if you are interested, you can see it here.

Hope you all had a great weekend and I can't wait to see what you have been up to. See you soon!

  1. This is stunning Lucy. I love it. Thanks for playing with us at STM.

  2. Oh Lucy...I just adore your LO!!!! The photos are priceless and I love the girlie feel!!! You are SOOOO lucky to do the girlie LO's!!!! Ok, internet that the weather is getting warmer....there will be less time spent on the internet!!!! I love my Blogs, but I have not been on my boards!!!! It takes a lot of time and I want to manage my time wisely!!!!! So....Blogs yes, a visit here and there to my favorite boards yes, but time in the garden or spent with the boys....much more important....! Wishing you a Happy Monday!!! :)

  3. this is so fun....I LOVE the green! :)

  4. o Lucy !

first off -I have been waiting for your stamping tut ! I haven't invested too much in stamps , inks etc so its very valuable to me - that you've condensed it the way you did !
Thank you so much for sharing !!!

You know I love what you did with this layout & all the glorious Prima goodies !

How much time spend on the internet ? urrghhh ! lol
ok abt balance : the best tip I have ever come across regarding this is to simply use a timer( i like using my iphone timer for this !!) : put on whatever works for you - 20 , 30 mins etc so that when the timer rings - you could be prompted to leave a certain activity( eg just surfing the 'net ) & move on to something else( that could also be very constructive - like hanging up some laundry to dry ços the sun is out !!! ) lol

I hear you there on having an introspective time - ditto for me - but I'm sure our reasons are very different - I'm currently mulling over the issue of being highly original in our scrappy work (if you want to email or send me a pte message on FB at all ) do feel free to do so! lol

    hugs ,

  5. Lucy this layout is stunning, there's always so much to see on here, I look at the close ups for ages. have you ever thought about publishing a book? I've bought a few mixed media scrapbook type books lately and nothing touches your layouts.
internet time.i'd say i go on about an hour a day, and whatever i get done i get done, i don't always get around all of the blogs i'd like, but i try to fit it in, you know what the little girls are like for attention!! creating time for me right now is nil so it's a rubbish balance!! LOL

  6. What a totally stunning Layout, I love it, would you mind if I scraplifted it? Jay xx

  7. Wow Lucy, this may be one of your best yet! I am loving that bright green as the background! And the multicolored bling rocks ;)
I try to limit my online time to about 90 minutes a day, all broken up in 20-30 min here or there.

  8. wow totally stunning layout, i love it!!

  9. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Love all the flowers and feminine touches, especially against that striped background! Gosh, that's a good question about time on the internet b/c I don't really know. I usually spend a short amount of time in the morning before the day gets started, then I check again during naptime/quiet time for the kids (now, lol) and usually again at night. Now on the days I work, it's a different story altogether ;-) It is def. hard to find a balance, though. I always feel like I should be on the computer less, but with blogs and message boards for DT's, there's def. a certain amount of time I need to be to continue doing what I enjoy, kwim?

  10. I really love the textured layers on this piece Lucy! Goes well with the curls on Em!

I think Google reader is the best invention ever for saving time. I subscribe to all my favorite blogs and never have to visit sites that have no new content..except for a few that have no RSS feed...:( This way I can skim through the content, email those of interest to friends, bookmark some for future reference..etc..

  11. Hi Lucy, I finally got the new copy of Sew Somerset, your work looks Great! Do you have a new banner? I spend a little time every day on the computer, it depends on work,(my real job), how many hours that I'm scheduled.I always wish I had more time to create, but also need the time to post, as well as building and learning online.

  12. I love this Lucy! Little Emma looks so grown up in these pictures. I really havent had much time to keep up with anything on the computer lately. I try to keep my facebook up, just so I know whats up with friends and I try to get to the blogs as much as possible.
Hope you have a wonderful week!

  13. Beautiful LO Lucy!
As far as the internet thing goes, I'm afraid I can't help you there, I have the same problem!
There are days I don't touch my computer, but they are rare ... usually when we have to go somewhere, but somehow I always seem to manange to squeeze some time in...
Other days I just know I've been on the internet too much, while I should have been doing other things. And though I feel guilty about it, I can't seem to break the circle. So you see, I was quite curious to see what the others wrote on this subject. One things for sure though, the timer thing wouldn't work for me, I would probably just ignore it LOL. I think this is something we have to figure out for ourselves...
    xxx Peggy
