Sunshiny Days

I feel like I have been a bit neglectful of my blog lately. Sometimes life gets in the way of creating. Life is good like that. :)

Definitely in the mood to scrap some older photos lately. The song at Scrapping the Music this week is Because of You by Kelly Clarkson, such a beautiful song and immediately brought to my mind how much Em has changed our lives. Especially the joy she brings to my mom. So this is for them! :)

This is getting triple duty with some beautiful papers from Fancy Pants from the AMM store and my digital tip for The Next Step. Full directions for adding some hybrid elements to alter your papers over there.

And a close-up of the background- over cardboard I glued some Fancy Pants chipboard paisleys, (they are on clearance for $1.80!!!) then over painted with yellow paint, let dry, then gesso and wiped part away for a sun washed look. The texture is gorgeous!!

And why my week has been so busy. Em and P are taking swim lessons every day and loving every minute of it! Before this week, we couldn't even get her to put her face in the water and yesterday - the third day - she is jumping off the diving board and swimming underwater! I am so proud of her and P!!

I think she is proud of herself, too! :)

Just working on a couple of things that I can't share yet....but I will soon!! Oh, and a little toot! I was on the Graphic 45 blog again - this time for being published in Sew Somerset using G-45 papers!

See you all soon!

Early Bird

The design team at A Million Memories was sponsored by Cosmo Cricket this month and we had the chance to create with the new Early Bird collection. Thank you Cosmo Cricket and AMM!! These papers can be used in so many ways and the colors are some of my faves - aqua and red and who doesn't like cherries!?!

I painted the bracket with red paint and layered some strips of the papers inside. The CC blackboard is from my stash. There is a lot of dimension in the paper strips - not sure if it really shows here.

My mom always feels like home to me. She is a good cook and these cute kitchen papers worked perfectly with the apron photo.

This is a Christmas picture of me and Em - funny how it worked with the spring feel to the papers.

I laid a scallop edge paper down over the floral background as a mask and painted over the edges. Then outlined and added some stitching.

Love this shot of the girls from their gymnastics recital. So cute!

I painted and faux stitched the yellow circles on the kraft background.

Thanks for your birthday wishes for Em! She had a great day and here is a picture of her on her new bike. Fully protected with her safety gear. She liked the knee and elbow pads as much as the bike. lol

How's your week going? It is so hot here - 99 through the weekend - and that's not counting the heat index! I'll see you soon, if I don't melt.

A Million Memories is having a sale this week!! Use code 2121 at checkout and receive 20% off your order! You should check out the gorgeous new vintage trims!! Yummmmm!!

Four Years Ago Today

Four years ago, my life was forever changed. I became a different person in many ways and I am thankful for the changes she has brought into my life. She is the reason I became a scrapbooker.

Happy Birthday, Emma! I love you more than I can say. I wanted to share a brief through the years today and then the 'mom' moment will be over for now. ;)

And my little artist's latest drawing - those of you familiar with the Backyardigans might recognize some of these figures. She brought this home from school last week and I was blown away by the details she added. It is funny how proud you feel when you child takes after you in certain areas - we spend a lot of time together in the crafting room. Em has a great interest in cutting, pasting, painting and drawing. She loves to mix colors of paint to see what new colors she can make and her cutting skills are astonishing, for her age.

So, enough mommy bragging - just a happy 4th birthday to my baby!

And in other news - I just posted my projects on The Next Step - you can check out some of my ideas for altering your papers: here.

I was featured on the Graphic 45 blog last week! And had a layout show up on the Sassafras blog, too! Very exciting for me!

Hope your week is off to a great start and I'll be by after our partying tomorrow! :)

Something Old, Something New *edited*

That was the title of the Sassafras blog post that inspired me to pull out my stash of gorgeous papers that I have been hording. Hording for what, one might ask? The end to my paper stash? hehe (that would be the end of the world as we know it) Well, enough hording and on with the project! This is mixing stuff from 4 of their product lines. It all goes together so well!

Everything here from Sassafras Lass except for the adore tag and the button. Photo edges by Sandi Krieger. I misted the green dot paper to give a worn and distressed look. Isn't this photo the cutest? Em's hair just won't stay up, but I love it.

And another I added - this one of me and my dad - I was about 4 here. When Em saw this pic, she asked, is that you or me? lol and then she wanted to know why was I laying with DaDa - that is my brother (who looks so much like my dad).

Not a great picture quality wise - but very much loved.

A close up of my title work and some of the stitching.

Thanks for your input on the internet time organization. I tend to be slightly obsessive and just need to limit my time while Em is up, at least. ;) I have definitely had a more creative week, finishing 4 layouts so far. So maybe a little organization is good for me.

Hope you are having a great week and I'll catch you later!

You Change

This week the song at Scrapping the Music is Our Town by James Taylor - while looking through the lyrics, 'you change' struck me and while it isn't the theme of my layout - I was thinking about change. I like to think that I can roll with the punches and change is usually a good thing, but something recently made me wonder how well I really deal with changes in my life. I guess we are all set in our ways to a certain extent and like to have life run according to our plan. I don't know, how about you? But, change is inevitable and we have to adapt or it will drive you crazy trying to make it fit your mold. Hmmm...for some reason, my life doesn't seem to fit some days. :)

Anyway - the layout isn't about that, but just a change of a hair do! lol I took these pictures of Em while she was getting her hair done for Michelle's wedding and I think they are so cute. Like a little curly-q!

I used mostly all Prima here and their June BAP sketch for fun.

So I want to know - How much time do you spend on the internet each day? You don't have to say if you don't want to, but I have been trying to evaluate my computer time. You know, the best use of my time or I could be creating. Any tips on how you find a balance? I guess this is an introspective week for me. I'm not talking about visiting blogs here - I can't miss that! :)

I also have a new stamping tutorial that I wrote for A Million Memories if you are interested, you can see it here.

Hope you all had a great weekend and I can't wait to see what you have been up to. See you soon!

June AMM Kit

I am in love! Michelle has outdone herself this month with the June kit from A Million Memories - the colors, embellishments, papers - all just my style! lol

A pic from before the wedding, Em patiently waiting. Love this expression! I painted under the photo with Tim Holtz crackle paint in White Wicker.

And to show how I punched up the flower vine with some layers of punched flowers and stickles:

This photo is of my grandma and her sister - I am so mad at how my handwriting ruined this page! I try not to write uphill and even had dots to follow and what happened!?! Otherwise, I really like the design here. See that cute little fence?

And another vintage photo this month - this one of my dad's mom and his 3 older brothers. These Webster's Pages suit themselves beautifully to vintage. This one is also a little different size - 81/2x12 - I was piecing together some scraps and liked the result very much!

And probably my favorite of these - inspired by Audrey.

And Audrey's card - my inspiration for this layout! When I saw this on her blog I knew I had to make a layout with this idea and she graciously allowed me to lift her!! For those of you that don't know Audrey Hernadez, she is an amazing mixed media artist who is an Artist on Call for Somerset Studios and a good friend of mine. Her work is fabulous!

And another shot of it because I just can't get enough of it! Love the whimsical feel! I had Em run around the yard with her kite to get the photos for this one.

And now that I've worn you out - Look at this! Rachel Hall is going to be teaching a FREE class at AMM! This looks like fun - can't wait to play along. Hope you'll join me! :) Just register on the AMM site to receive the email announcing the class with the link.

Don't know if you noticed but I used the Creative Imagination stamps from the kit a lot this month and will be giving a free tutorial about using acrylic stamps and ideas for stamping on your layouts - I'll post the link when I get it finished.

So thanks for hanging in there with me today - that was a ton of photos to look at! I guess I don't have to say that I haven't done much else this week, besides playing outside with Em by her little pool or staying inside playing dolls. ;) How is your summer starting off? See you soon!

Feels Like Summer

It already feels like summer here and I have been inspired to use some warm, bright colors. For my last week as guest designer for Scrapping the Music - #88 You Are So Beautiful:

I punched up the color in the photo with a color burn and Michelle just sent me these Fancy Pants papers from the Sweet Spring line and paisley chipboard from the AMM store - I love the feel of water in this layout - I added some stickles water drops to accent.

And a layout using some Pink Paislee that I have been saving - perfect for the contest at CMK this month. I traced the chipboard swirl 2 times and covered the area with glue and glitter. These are some older photos of Em and her cousins at Silver Dollar City, enjoying the kids water area.

And I've been playing with the June kit from A Million Memories this weekend and loving it! I created 3 layouts this weekend using the kit - When I saw the color combo at CCG #124 this week and I had to scrap this photo of Em's first day at pre-school. She just started last month going a couple of days a week through the summer so I can be ready for her to go for Pre-K in the fall. It was definitely harder on me than her. But having a free morning is kind of nice, too. ;)

Well, I better get a little housework done this morning before time to pick up my girl! I'll be by to see what you have been up to soon. :)

btw- Gayle posted the new challenge at The Next Step this morning - be sure to check it out!
