Free to Be Me

I just love the song title for Scrapping the Music this week. Even though I didn't use it on my layout - it just makes me happy. It seems like, and maybe this is just me, the older I get the easier it is to just be me and be happy about it. I hope you get a chance to see the DT layouts this week - they are incredible!!

Loving some craft cardstock these days - I added the glitter to the leaves using a Sakura glue pen - so easy and mess free, except for the glitter. ;)

And on with the craft - Em and her friend McKenzie - have you ever noticed how kids just love the cheap toys that come in their fast food meals? This magnifying glass kept them entertained for quite a while. I cut down a sheet of KI Sheers on this - I never get tired of those! I guess you can tell I was trying to use up the paper I had out on my table.

Here some peeks of the June kit from AMM! I can't wait to get my hands on it!

I've been working on my projects for The Next Step
- I think you are going to enjoy this one! Also have to finish an article for Holidays and Celebrations for Somerset - that was a pleasant surprise!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I'll catch you later! :)

Wedding Theme

We were sponsored by Hambly at A Million Memories this month and I loved playing with these gorgeous goodies!! I did lots of close-ups of this one - it is one of my faves, mostly because I am so proud of my photo transfer! lol My friend, Audrey sent me some Great White glossy photo paper and instructed me on how to do this gel medium transfer - it is so cool - the entire emulsion comes off!! Thanks, A!!

I made some fabric roses from ivory satin to go with the wedding theme.

With the light shining through - the background is one of the heavy overlays that I cut to shape.

I embossed around the edge with Pearl UTEE - love how this looks!

Ok, enough, already! ;)

And along with the wedding theme, I took this picture of Michelle before her wedding - she is glowing, isn't she! I made it for Scrapping the Music this week - the song is #85 These are the Days, very appropriate, I thought.

Also want to say thanks to Jamie for the awesome RAK she sent me!! Hope you all are having a great week! Check in with you later! :)

Edited to add - I understand there are some errors in IE from the followers button - anyone having trouble with this? I have been using FireFox and having no difficulties - just thought I would mention it. :)

Fabric Art Quilt and Brown Bags

Good Monday to you all! How was your weekend? Sunday was my reveal day again so I have a couple of things to share.I did a fun little 'go green' project for the AMM blog yesterday that I called Brown Bagging it and created this layout - you can see the rest of the project here.

This is my project for Creative Therapy this week. Catalyst 62- What’s a personality trait you admire/seek in others? Why? This project came due right before Mother's Day and I wanted to make something really special for my mom - and she has one of the kindest hearts of anyone I know - so this is for her - love you, Mom. :)

A small art quilt made from painted muslin, chenille, satin and trims. These are some acrylic tags that I stamped. (You can click on any of the pictures to enlarge the photos.)

Definitely shabby chic- I usually do more color - but for my mom I wanted it to be soft and sweet.

Some of my stitching.

And today is my first project on The Next Step - A Graphic Approach - my projects using stamps and paint. It's funny, as long as I have been blogging, I was so nervous about that post! It seems like here on my blog, you guys are my friends stopping by to see what I am working on but there are so many following The Next Step that I don't know it is a little bit more intimidating.

Mark took me shopping yesterday for my late birthday present - I am now the proud owner of an iPod! lol I may have been the only person left around not to have an MP3 player. Em loves it and asked if she can get one for her birthday. Hmmm...a 4 year old with an iPod?

So, in honor of the gift giving I had Em help me draw for my birthday RAK and the winner is CHELSEA!! And also I noticed some of you have The Next Step blinkie on your blog and have been chatting about us!! So LISA - email me your addresses ladies -

Thanks for hanging with me today! I'll be by to visit soon! :)

It's a Triple

A triple combo, that is...I've been trying to get my momentum going again with my scrapping. What with being sick, housework and normal daily life....I think you know what I mean!

I created this 6x12 layout yesterday to play along with Color Combos Galore #122 and Pencil Lines #134 and used the cute Heidi Swapp papers from the AMM store that Michelle sent me. So, a triple. Love this format!! I need to use it more often. Iris showed a couple 6x12s on her blog recently and inspired me to do some more!

And another that has been in process for the past week - when my parents were gone last month, Emma wanted to send my mom a picture showing that she missed her - isn't this cute! :)

Love these KI Sheers - I painted the edge and then punched holes around the perimeter, then blanket stitched the edges with black chenille yarn. Just a fun mix.

These are hard to get good photos!

Summer is fast approaching - actually already feels like it here in Florida. We got out Em's baby pool for her to play in and now she wants to be in the water all of the time. I am hoping maybe we can take the boat to the river this weekend or find a friends pool! Hope you all are having a great week and I'll see you soon.

Checking In

Well, what's going on this morning? I'm trying to catch-up....seems like last week was crazy - with Emma sick, then me, then Emma and now the housework is piled to the ceiling! Oh, well...I'll get to it later. Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! I got a sweet Cookie Monster card from my sweetie and was told 'I love you' about 20 times - a great day! So, on to scrapping news....

I have a couple of new layouts to share...this is one I did for NSD at AMM based on my sketch.

This is a funny story - journaling - When you saw your Easter basket with the garden boots, gloves and tools you were so excited! Later that day you asked me, Mom, how did the Easter bunny get me these boots? Maybe he ordered then online, you suggested' You are already a child of the internet at 3 years old.

One of the neat things about being on the AMM DT is Michelle sends us lots of manufacture products to work with besides the kit! She sent me some goodies from Heidi Swapp and Anna Griffin to play with.

I'm loving the sprinkles!

And this older photo using the Anna Griffin - I added in some yellow and fabric to the blue and red collection to punch it up a bit.

And Scrapping the Music! Challenge 84 - Son of Man by Phil Collins. This photo was taken in low light so I did a soft focus on it to try to blend it a bit and wanted a dreamy soft look to this layout.

Also, want to thank, Tara for sending some beautiful ribbons for winning her RAK on her blog! And in honor of it being my birthday, what, didn't I mention that? I am going to send out a RAK to one of the commenters on this post.

And Gayle just posted her ideas for using paint and stamps on The Next Step! She is awesome!! I think you will love her ideas! Have a great week! :)

Not a Normal Sunday

To start with - it isn't even Sunday....but yesterday was a day for reveals for me and then today the first technique by Beth for The Next Step! Over the next couple of weeks Gayle and I will show you our ideas using stamps as a painting guide so stay tuned and play along with us if you can! Let me say I am completely overwhelmed and so happy at the response we have had, I truly did not expect this!!

My favorite vacations have always been at the beach so I wanted to create a mixed media piece with a beachy feel. I transfered my photo onto Lutrador with gel medium and layered some gorgeous crushed hand dyed velvet as the water and embellished. There is also cheesecloth that I painted.

Scrapping the Music - my first week as a guest designer. I have always been inspired by music and love to use it as a creative start so I am excited to be there this month! The song this week is Challenge #84 - Secret Valentine. I really wanted to scrap this picture that Gayle took of Em at Michelle's wedding so I used some words from the lyrics.

You still have time to do a layout for my challenge at AMM (due by May 8) - create layout using any of the techniques taught by the DT during NSD - here is the thread. There is a great RAK up for grabs!

I've got some serious blog hopping to do - to catch up with everyone! Thanks for taking the time to visit me! See you soon!
