MMM - Recycle - Repurposed

This weeks challenge at Mixed Media Monday is Recycle-Repurpose. I made a gift card tin that a recycled into a little treasure box.

I used alcohol inks over the entire box first then collaged a quote and some flowers. The butterfly is made by stamping onto Textura - it is angelina before it is shredded - and hit with a the heat gun to crumple. The leaf impression was made by stamping into some air dry clay and painting with metallic paint and gold wax rub. I tied some fibers around the top of the box to finish.

Just got my September kit from Scrapmuse and have been busily creating!! We are going out of town to visit my family in Missouri this week, so I will be gone for about 10 days! I'll be checking in and have some new LOs to show when I return. :)

See you later!

Paper Doll Couture

I started this piece for last weeks challenge on Mixed Media Monday and didn't quite get it finished in time, so - I edited it slightly and made it work for this weeks challenge - Numbers.

I loved the idea of a paper doll clothing store so I stamped a dress form stamp 3 times and cut it out and made little outfits for each one.

Emma wanted to know who were those little dresses for? lol This is one piece that she really loved. She wanted to play with it - but I had to say, no! Hope you all had a fun and creative weekend! :)

August DT LOs

The August newsletter from Scrapmuse just came out! I have been waiting to share my new favorite LOs with you. ;)

We played with the double-sided stickers from Doodlebug this month & I used them on this LO with glitter and the next one with flock. The Prima rub-on was the perfect border on this page.

I so love this photo of Emma looking at the hydrangeas in our yard. I did a layer of flock over the chipboard letters. Aren't these lace butterflies so delicate!

I am so happy with how this LO turned out - I printed the photo onto the book-page paper. These butterflies are by Kaiser Crafts - they are wooden! I sanded the paper and photos to give it a distressed look.

This kit is so beautiful and easy to work with. I also made some cards I will post later.

Hope you all have a great weekend!! Thanks so much for all of your comments! :)

Bo Bunny Travel Book

Traci from Scrapmuse asked me to make up this adorable Bo Bunny Kit for a add-on project for the store and forum. I have full instructions posted in the forum with tips and tricks to make your own. Sorry this post is so long but I wanted to show each page.

I followed the instructions but then did my own photo layout and embellishments. These photos are from a trip we took last fall with my cousins. Such a fun time and great memories!

August LO Contest at Scrapmuse

Here's the LO I showed the sneak of earlier - I am so glad Mark caught these shots of us!
Aren't these papers fab together! So loving this months kit from Scrapmuse! The Prima bling and flower centers are from the embellishment add-on.

I stamped on the mirror bird with Stazon ink - Cool, huh.

Just wanted to share about the contest this month at Scrapmuse. In case you want to try for this great prize!! Here are the rules:

All too often scrapbookers become stuck in a game of catch-up. This month we are going to break free from chronological order and scrapbooking events such as weddings, holidays and birthdays and focus on the everyday pleasures that are often ignored in our scrapbooks.

Contest dates: now until August 31, 2008.

Requirements: Create a page that focuses on an everyday experience and combines at least two photos taken on two separate occasions. For example, if your child is always reading books, create a page about their reading that uses photos that you have taken of them reading on different days. Layouts (8 x 8 or larger) as well as mini-books will be accepted. Maximum 3 entries per person, please.

Items must be loaded into the Scrapmuse August Contest Gallery by midnight (MST) on August 30, 2008. The winner will be announced no later than September 6, 2008 in our forum. Designs will be judged by our current design team. Contest is open to US, Canadian and International Scrappers.

The Prize: One lucky Scrapper will receive the entire line (1 sheet of each pp) for each of the Black Market Paper Society papers, which include: • Ebony and Alabaster • Let it Bloom • Letters from Paradise • Lucky N Love • When the Weather is Fine All collections are double-sided and the winner will receive 28 sheets in all!!!

(Members have the option of shipping their prize with the next kit at no additional charge. International winners are responsible for actual shipping charges).

I can’t wait to see your creations in the gallery!!!

August PHutch Sketches

I decided to change up the 2 -12x12 LO this month and make it into a 6x12 - kind of a mixed media experiment. I washed the background paper with acrylic paint and some texture paste - then distressed my pictures and embellishments with gesso. Love these photos!

I have tons of photos from when Em was a baby, because I didn't scrapbook then - so thought I would start pulling some of them out while I still remember what was going on at the time! lol She was 5 months old here and so chubby. Aren't those faces adorable? Emma has always had a very expressive face - like me, I guess. It certainly isn't from her dad! lol My mom is holding her - I can't belive how many photos I have where someone was holding Em and I just cut their heads off. Sounds like a child centered mom to me. Hmmmm...

Just a simple, cute round card - somehow I couldn't get the colors to come out right in the photo here.

You can see what the other DT members did this month and the original sketches here....if you would like to try one for yourself. ;)

Also I need to thank my dear friend, Kaz again for this award. Evidently she didn't see where I posted it last month! lmao Thank you, Thank you, Kaz for this ingenious award!!! ;)

Trinchies

Think 3x3 (tri-inchies), think Mixed Media Monday, anyway, just take a look -

Doesn't this little Paper Whimsy boy have the most serious expression? The 3 is from some Prima chipboard and the background is like the one that Audrey taught me. Thanks for looking! :)

Toilet Paper Roll Book

Maybe that title got your attention! If you haven't seen these yet, they are the cutest little books ever! You make them by flattening empty toilet paper rolls and covering them with paper and you can put tags or ephemera in the ends. Here is my version:

I started this project at Nan's a few weeks ago and I finished it up last night. Gayle, Nan and I and a new friend, Lisa all met at Nan's house and worked on these little books! SO much fun and great to meet new friends!

I need to thank Tessa for nominating my blog for 2 awards:

Thanks, Tessa for noticing my little blog! :)

Happy creating this week!

Busy Summer

Wow, I just looked at the date of my last post and can't believe how the summer has flown by. Most of the LOs I have been working on are DT work and I am waiting to share, so just a sneak for now!

Here is the preview of the August Kit from Scrapmuse. It is my favorite kit that I have worked with as a DT member so far, Traci has done a fabulous job putting it together! I hope you check it out. :) I also worked with the embellishment add-on and so love what I have finished up!

Here is a small sample of one of the LOs I have done:

We are finally home and glad to be here! Our little beach trips have been fun and it has been good for Emma to be with Mark more now. The day we got back from Daytona, my friend and I took our daughters to see the Backyardigan's Live - they were so excited!! Here is a shot of Emma demonstrating the Mighty Knights Dance to me! lol She sat on the edge of her chair and was glued to the action on stage. When we arrived at the theater - Emma asked if this is where the Backyardigans lived? and then when we were leaving she was looking around outside waiting to see if they were out there! A three year olds perception is so funny!

Also so cool that I got to meet Audrey IRL!! She is an amazing artist and such an inspiration to me. I enjoyed getting to see her work area and she even gave me a little demo on how she does her incredible backgrounds. (well, I kind of made her) LOL Her son, Montana is such a cutie, too! It is amazing how many artists you meet through the internet! I hope I will get a chance to meet some of you others who visit my blog someday, too!
