Graphic 45 Friday Class

This is the LO I taught for the $5 Friday at Scrappy Papers. I love this paper line - Graphic 45. I hand cut the flapper girl for an accent and made tiles with the vintage labels by gluing them onto chipboard and a couple of layers of clear embossing powder. Some of the ladies got really creative and brought some great vintage photos to work with. It was great!

Paper Castings

I finished up these paper casts for a challenge on GPP. Most of them were done with toilet paper, except for the dark brown with the gold. It was made with water soluable paper like used in machine quilting. I also wet the tissue with Moonglow inks and highlighted with metalic rub on wax.
Now I just need to incorporate them into a mixed media project!

Flower Girls

I made this LO with a Page Map sketch for their 2nd Anniversary Contest - that I didn't win. lol I have been using these photos a lot lately. I love the bright colors and the background of the flowers. I was using my new Scarlet Lime kit for the paper and embellishments! They have such great kits!
We were out of town for a few days this week so I am playing catch up today and wanted to see what was going on in the world of blogging. So I am off to see what my friends have been creating! I so appreciate my visitors and the comments that you leave. Thanks so much!!

Silly Angel

Emma's personality is emerging more and more! Being silly and trying to be "cute" are some of her faves! This LO is for a challenge we have going on on Scrapmuse - a scraplift thread. You know where you scrap a LO from the person above you on the thread. Mine is from one of Ida's LOs.

I enjoyed the freedom of just using whatever supplies I wanted to suit my photo and theme. It made this a fun LO for me. I used Prima paper, Scenic Route alphas, Maya Road journaling card, Jenni Bowlin calendar, Creative Imaginations silk flowers and various buttons, the wings are Fancy Pants.

Hope everyone has a safe and fun Memorial Day Weekend!!

Scrapmuse May Projects

ScrapMuse's May Newsletter just came out last night and I wanted to share my projects from May's kit. I have to be honest, when I first saw the kit I was not inspired by the dark and drab colors but after working with it and seeing everyones projects in the newsletter, I really like it now.

I made a sketch from this LO for the newsletter. It was the first time I have tried that. What do you think?

And this project is one of my favorites- I wrote a newsletter article about recycling your packaging. It was the chipboard box from the kit! It was hard to get a good picture with the acetate on the front.

My eye is doing much better, now. Thanks for all of your sweet comments! Who knew that dancing around the room with your daughter could be so dangerous! Or maybe it's just me. My dad would always say ' You could tear up a crowbar in a sandbox'. (I was kind of accident prone as a kid.) And nothing has changed there! I could entertain you for hours with stories of my 'incidents'. Poor, Mark. lol

Friday's Class

This was my $5 Friday class at Scrappy Papers. I used Basic Grey's Sugared papers & a Pagemap sketch to pull together this fast and fun LO. All in under 1 hour!
Also just saw I got LOTD at SIS with 'beauty'. Thanks girls!

On another note, Em scratched my cornea with her fingernail yesterday and I can barely see and have the pirate look going on! It has been so painful!! Hopefully it will feel better tomorrow. I can't hardly see to type so I will just keep this post brief.

I Believe in Fairies - Handmade Book

This post ended up kind of photo heavy with all of the pictures in my book. I made this book about a year ago & never had a chance to post it. These photos are from Emma's first Halloween - she was such a cute little fairy. I so love this little book. It was so fun to make & I just love this Basic Grey line. My friend, Gayle mades these beautiful handmade books and she gave me some pointers on this one, so it is far from perfect. But I love it anyway.

May Scrapmuse Sneaks

Here are my sneak peeks at what I created using the May Scrapmuse kit, as promised. The new owner, Traci has lots of exciting things planned for the future & they are bringing on several new DT members next month, so it should be busy!

I have been working on some challenge LOs and some altered stuff so maybe I'll have some more new stuff to show by the end of the week. This has been a weird week for me creatively. I feel like I am just plodding along when I like to race. lol -

Last night Gayle & Nan came over to work at the house. Em thought it was her night to glitter glue everything in sight! I was interrupted ever 30 sec. so I guess I got off my groove. She also kept asking to "borrow" my stamps. It was too funny. She thinks she is one of the adults, too. I think it is called only child syndrome. Hope you are all having a creative & productive week!

Beauty - Mixed Media

Happy Mother's Day! Hope you moms had a wonderful day!

I have been doing lots of scrapbooking and my love for mixed media keeps pulling me to try new things. Just finished up my DT work projects for Scrapmuse & felt like working with something new. So here it is:

I started by using a new glimmer screen (which is like a detailed stencil) with glimmer mists sprayed over canvas & then removed the screen & lightly misted with a tea dye stain that I made from distress inks.

Then I stamped my image & colored in with chalks. I tore the edges & layered with a black torn layer with a gold leafed edge. I love this stamp by Christine Adolph.

I then began layering to quilt the front together with the following layers - bottom - cotton quilt batting, fabric, crumpled paper and the dyed canvas. I machine quilted the layers together aroung the edge of the canvas & then on the outside, too.

Then I mounted it on a foam core board and mitered the edges. The back has paper on it now & looks a lot neater.

I finished by adding some lace and of course flowers & some bling! The charm is a shrink art piece I had done useing the same stamp. I took this picture at night so you can't see it so well.

I think I will add some closeups tomorrow.

PHutch May Sketches

I am so happy to show you what I did with Patti's sketches this month. You can see the other DT members work at PHutch Sketches.

On the one page LO I used some of the new Prima papers, hambly, making memories & Bam Pop. I just love this picture that my mom took of me & Em.

The two page LO is all digital from Sandy Kreiger. Emma was so funny trying to feed the lighted deer in our yard at Christmas time.

The card is made with American Crafts pp & an acrylic stamp from Autum Leaves.

The other ladies projects are awesome! I am so excited to be working with this creative team!

Mother's Day Card

My mom asked me to make a mother's day card for her to send to Grandma with this beloved photo of them. I kept it pretty simple with the photo taking center stage. The papers are by SEI- Chocolate something. I inked the chipboard letters & then covered them with Ranger crackle glue. The photo mat is velvet paper & looks really pretty.

April & I took the girls to the park this morning & they had so much fun! Aren't they cute with the wind in their hair? I just gave Em a little trim last night so her hair looks extra curly!

On another note my blogging friend, Audrey sent my blog to Scrapbooking.com for their blog of the week & I will be featured in Monday's newsletter. I'll be sure to post a link so you can see. I was so excited they wanted to feature my little blog. It has been growing & has already become more than I imagined it would. The best part is the other artists I have gotten to know through blogging. It has been a wonderful experience.

Wild Flowers

Our friends have a field where they are growing wild flowers for the roadways. They are blooming so beautifully now & we went out & got some great pictures the other day. I can't wait to scrap some of these.

What little girl wouldn't dream of running through a field like this:

This is my friend, Judie with her kids. They looked so awesome sitting in the flowers. I am going to make something for her with this picture.

I have been busy working but nothing I can show yet! lol You'll just have to take my work on it.

ScrapMuse May Kit Preview

I just received my May kit from Scrapmuse. I am continuing there as a Design Team member. They are calling this kit Antique Garden, the main papers are Old Fashioned Flowers by Kimberly Poloson. It is well suited for vintage & is soft and faded colors.

I have been picking out some photos to work with these papers & drawing some sketches. This stage is so much fun to me. So many possibilities! I'll post some sneaks later this week.

Laugh LO

This LO is based on the Color Story Challenge. It made me combine colors in a way I normally wouldn't. I really like it a lot! The LO is more vibrant IRL but you can get the idea. I really need to break out of my "normal" box more often.

New Class at my LSS

I just started teaching a new class at Scrappy Papers, my LSS. We call it $5 Friday!! It is a one hour LO for - you guessed it $5. So it is pretty basic & just to get people finishing LOs for their albums. I had 9 croppers in the class this morning.

I love teaching and sharing ideas.

In the class today I used some of the KI lace paper & glimmer mist to make a mask on the scalloped paper & layered the hand cut butterflies & elements.

This is the sample from 2 weeks ago. Gayle & I trade off Fridays so I am teaching a different LO every other week.

We had a lot of fun. At least I did!
