Happy Day

Today is a happy day....today is my dad's birthday and this morning my mom told me that they decided to postpone their move for several months. We were all having such a hard time thinking of them leaving so this is a huge relief for now. At least now we have some time to get adjusted a little.

I showed this a little while ago and in honor of my dad thought I would re-visit it again. Also this month is all about stitching at The Next Step, so bring on your sewing projects! Love that Sassafras!

I am drooling over my LUSCIOUS package that came in the mail from Webster's yesterday - take a peek at what I am going to tear into this weekend!! Postcards from Paris!! It is even more amazing in person!!

Hope you all have wonderful weekend and see you soon!

Scrapping the Music

Music is something that always makes me think; it is the soundtrack of our lives and a vehicle for our memories. Just a few bars and I am instantly transported to another time or emotion. That is why when Mary from Scrapping the Music asked me to join their design team, I was happy to take part. So if you are inspired by music, I hope you will come and join us!

Here is my first layout as a design team member and also part of my entry for the design team call at American Crafts- I am going try out and see what they think of my style. All of the new Thickers -now that is my idea of fun! Thickers are my most 'go to' supply.

A note about the photo - I've been playing with Photo Shop lately and I edited this photo using Color Pop by Mindy's Photo Actions and then layered a texture mask from Lily After 5 between layers of the photo and made the top layer into an overlay. Then I added the text for my journaling. The photo looks like it was printed on canvas, I love the effect!

Thanks for all of the warm wishes about the Webster's DT! It has been a fun week, scrapbook wise. :)

See you soon.

Webster's Pages

Some wishes are magical - becoming a designer for Webster's Pages has been a dream of mine for a long time and I cannot tell you what an honor it is to become part of their design team! It was just announced today, that was a hard secret to keep, let me tell you!

I created some new pages for the announcement. This is an older photo of Em that I edited and used a digital framed vintage overlay by Carina Gardner. I love the printed vellum by Websters and layered it over the kraft background and hand stitched around the edge.

Didn't these flowers turn out pretty? They are made from 3 circles of old book paper and then snipped into the center and stapled together - then misted and shaped with some mist I mixed.

This photo is a real treasure to me. It is of my grandmother, who was born in 1917 - so amazing the age of it and how it was taken through the window!

I created a quilted effect on the paper by wetting and crumpling then hand stitching.

And a little sign, kind of private joke for Emma. She is famous for wanting to eat late, right before bed time and now she knows to ask, Is the kitchen closed? lol And I do like to be out of the kitchen by 6, not that it always happens that way!

Websters has so many new upcoming releases for CHA this month! We are celebrating and having some peeks during the Joyful Joyride! Stop by and see what is going on!!

I am not going out of town this week after all, so now I am just looking forward to CHA! Thanks for all of your kind comments about my parents! :)

See you soon!

July already?

How fast is this summer going by? So fast for me! I've got some really exciting stuff coming up this month...a trip, CHA, scrappy news and the July kit from A Million Memories! I have a couple of layouts in the latest ezine by Scrapstreet.com in the Green section.

I've been trying to finish up some upcoming projects for some assignments and for The Next Step, I'll be posting my tutorial on Monday, so stay tuned for that. Here are a couple of peeks of what I have been working on:

And the July kit from A Million Memories - so gorgeous! I love the colors - this kit was designed by Mia, didn't she do a great job!!

About my trip - Em and I are going to Missouri with my parents. Kind of some sad news actually, my parents who live 5 miles from us just sold their home here and are in the process of moving back to Missouri. I have been dealing with a lot of heavy emotions with this and struggling creatively, but I know that we will all adjust and I'll just have to appreciate the times that we have together. So, just hanging in there.

Is anyone else going to CHA in Orlando this month? Let me know and maybe we can meet up! I am so excited to meet Michelle and some of the other AMM girls! I wish I could meet more of my online friends in real life. :)

Have a great rest of the week and I'll be by soon.

Sunshiny Days

I feel like I have been a bit neglectful of my blog lately. Sometimes life gets in the way of creating. Life is good like that. :)

Definitely in the mood to scrap some older photos lately. The song at Scrapping the Music this week is Because of You by Kelly Clarkson, such a beautiful song and immediately brought to my mind how much Em has changed our lives. Especially the joy she brings to my mom. So this is for them! :)

This is getting triple duty with some beautiful papers from Fancy Pants from the AMM store and my digital tip for The Next Step. Full directions for adding some hybrid elements to alter your papers over there.

And a close-up of the background- over cardboard I glued some Fancy Pants chipboard paisleys, (they are on clearance for $1.80!!!) then over painted with yellow paint, let dry, then gesso and wiped part away for a sun washed look. The texture is gorgeous!!

And why my week has been so busy. Em and P are taking swim lessons every day and loving every minute of it! Before this week, we couldn't even get her to put her face in the water and yesterday - the third day - she is jumping off the diving board and swimming underwater! I am so proud of her and P!!

I think she is proud of herself, too! :)

Just working on a couple of things that I can't share yet....but I will soon!! Oh, and a little toot! I was on the Graphic 45 blog again - this time for being published in Sew Somerset using G-45 papers!

See you all soon!

Early Bird

The design team at A Million Memories was sponsored by Cosmo Cricket this month and we had the chance to create with the new Early Bird collection. Thank you Cosmo Cricket and AMM!! These papers can be used in so many ways and the colors are some of my faves - aqua and red and who doesn't like cherries!?!

I painted the bracket with red paint and layered some strips of the papers inside. The CC blackboard is from my stash. There is a lot of dimension in the paper strips - not sure if it really shows here.

My mom always feels like home to me. She is a good cook and these cute kitchen papers worked perfectly with the apron photo.

This is a Christmas picture of me and Em - funny how it worked with the spring feel to the papers.

I laid a scallop edge paper down over the floral background as a mask and painted over the edges. Then outlined and added some stitching.

Love this shot of the girls from their gymnastics recital. So cute!

I painted and faux stitched the yellow circles on the kraft background.

Thanks for your birthday wishes for Em! She had a great day and here is a picture of her on her new bike. Fully protected with her safety gear. She liked the knee and elbow pads as much as the bike. lol

How's your week going? It is so hot here - 99 through the weekend - and that's not counting the heat index! I'll see you soon, if I don't melt.

A Million Memories is having a sale this week!! Use code 2121 at checkout and receive 20% off your order! You should check out the gorgeous new vintage trims!! Yummmmm!!

Four Years Ago Today

Four years ago, my life was forever changed. I became a different person in many ways and I am thankful for the changes she has brought into my life. She is the reason I became a scrapbooker.

Happy Birthday, Emma! I love you more than I can say. I wanted to share a brief through the years today and then the 'mom' moment will be over for now. ;)

And my little artist's latest drawing - those of you familiar with the Backyardigans might recognize some of these figures. She brought this home from school last week and I was blown away by the details she added. It is funny how proud you feel when you child takes after you in certain areas - we spend a lot of time together in the crafting room. Em has a great interest in cutting, pasting, painting and drawing. She loves to mix colors of paint to see what new colors she can make and her cutting skills are astonishing, for her age.

So, enough mommy bragging - just a happy 4th birthday to my baby!

And in other news - I just posted my projects on The Next Step - you can check out some of my ideas for altering your papers: here.

I was featured on the Graphic 45 blog last week! And had a layout show up on the Sassafras blog, too! Very exciting for me!

Hope your week is off to a great start and I'll be by after our partying tomorrow! :)
